What are the technical requirements of the lifting hook?

Basic technical requirements for lifting hook include:

1. When purchasing lifting hooks,they must be accompanied by technical documentation such as the manufacturer's certificate for proper use.Key departments that purchase hooks (e.g.,railways and ports)are responsilble for selecting hooks must subject them to  rigorous factory inspections (including non-destructive testing).

2. Hooks shall not have defects that impair the safe performance during use ;Such defects shall not be repaired by welding;The surface of the hook should be smooth,free of cracks, folds, sharp angles, burrs, peeling, burning and other defects.

3.  Two appropriate positions can be selected at the shortest distance of the hook opening to print the indelible mark.The distance between these marks serves as the basis for detecting whether the opening degree has changed during use.

4. Hook materials may be selected from high-quality carbon steel 20 or specialised hook materials such as DG20Mn, DG34CrMo forged.Casting hook is strictly prohibited.Plate hook is generally fabricated from A3, C3 ordinary carbon steel, or 16Mn low-alloy steel.

5. The longitudinal axis of the plate hook must align with the rolling direction of the steel plate,and splicing of the hook is not allowed.

6. The plate hook pieces should be riveted with countersunk rivets, and the high-stress bending parts of the plate hook and the lifting object should not be connected with rivet.

7. Fully closed welding is not allowed between plate and hook laminates, only intermittent welding is permited.

8. Hooks that have exceeded their service life or have been overload shall be discarded to ensure  their safety in use.
